Turquoise Mountain
Katherine has worked with Turquoise Mountain since 2016, designing jewelry for the artisans to create in Kabul, Afghanistan and now Jordan.
Designed by Katherine in New York, it has been handcrafted by artisans in Kabul, Afghanistan through Turquoise Mountain foundation, a NGO founded at the behest of HM King Charles III.
This collection showcases men and women's work as well as local natural resources found in Afghanistan.
Symbolic cultural motifs from history such as wheat sheaves, Persian suns, and traditional stylistic inspiration has been incorporated into many of the designs of this collection. Semiprecious stones including lapis lazuli, black tourmaline, multicolored agate, green peridot, yellow citrine, and pink morganite are locally sourced in Afghanistan.
Turquoise Mountain was founded in 2006 to invest in historic areas and traditional crafts, to provide jobs, skills, and a renewed sense of pride.
